We offer a range of therapies to improve the mental health and well-being of our veterans. We provide dedicated care to veterans across Wales. We can also help to signpost you to other services available in your local area. More information about the service and the option to refer yourself can be found on the Veterans NHS Wales website. You can also be referred by your GP.

Find out more and self-refer here.

Veterans Trauma Network Wales

Veterans Trauma Network Wales ensures that the most timely and appropriate expert care is received by those who have suffered complex injury during their time in the Armed Forces. Referrals to the network can be made by GPs, some other clinicians, and certain third sector organisations when there is an unmet need for specialist assessment or treatment for physical conditions relating to serving in the armed forces.

Referrals can be made via Veterans.traumanetwork@wales.nhs.uk

Armed Forces and Veterans Champions

Every Health Board in Wales has an Independent Board Member as an Armed Forces and Veterans Champion to advocate on behalf of veterans and Service personnel.

They are supported in their role by an Executive member of the health board. Armed Forces and Veterans Champions can be contacted through your local health board and the contact details for each can be found on their website.

The Armed Forces Covenant

All Armed Forces veterans are entitled to receive priority access to NHS care for any conditions, mental and physical, which are related to their military service. This priority is only over patients with similar clinical need. If you have served in the Armed Forces, please disclose this to your GP.

Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation Services

NHS Wales Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation services are delivered by three specialist Artificial Limb and Appliance Centres located in Cardiff, Swansea and Wrexham.

Veterans can be referred by their GP. Enhanced prosthetics for veterans with a service-attributable injury living in Wales will match the leading technology provided by the Defence Medical Service.
